Sergt. Michael Cronan Sergt Cronan was born in County Mayo, Jan 5, 1824, came to America in 1848 and lived in New Jersey for four years before becoming a long time resident of Naugatuck. He married Annie McNally and had eight children including Stephen A. ( captain in the Fourth Regiment ), Edward ( a detective in Bridgeport ), and daughters Catherine, Jennie and Tessie. Sergt Cronan enlisted in the Ninth regiment September 28, 1861 and was mustered as a corporal of Company F, October 12 of that year. He was promoted to sergeant January 1, 1863, and was at one period color sergeant.
