Sgt. Philip Reilly Born in County Cavan, Ireland, March 25, 1841 he came to the United States
in 1851. He enlisted from New Haven in Company E, of the Ninth, Sept.
4, 1861, and was mustered corporal. He was promoted to sergeant, Jan.
1, 1862, was color sergeant in March 1863, and was transferred to Company
B, Ninth battalion, Oct. 12, 1864. At the battle of Cedar Creek, VA, Oct.
19, 1864 he was wounded, and was honorably discharged Feb. 14, 1865.
