Sergeant William Brown A resident of Derby, he enlisted in the Ninth Regiment Connecticut Volunteers, Company K, on June 2, 1862 and was mustered in the same date. Mustered in as a private, he was promoted to Corporal on November 1, 1862 and to sergeant on August 16, 1863. He re-enlisted on January 4, 1864, died May 11, 1864 and is buried at Evergreen cemetery in New Haven. |
